Honda Africa Twin

Custom front sprocket nozzle system

The steel bracket is fixed onto the engine mounting bolt at the top, and slips over the gearchange shaft at the bottom. A small bracket holds pre-shaped 5mm od 3mm id nylon tube - which supports and protects the oil line inside. A 1mm dia piano-wire insert in the nozzle tube helps it keep its shape.
The nozzle outlet is pointed at the top of the sprocket - the oil is then fed into the chain by centrifugal force.

The advantages of a nozzle at the front sprocket are:
- better protected in an off-road environment
- less likely to be damaged at wheel-change time
Disadvantages:
- relatively tricky to work out what needs to be done and then fabricate it - and the cover needs some modifications too
- you need to take the cover off to check the nozzle
- no way to fit a twin nozzle, so somewhat less efficient
